Exciting discussions are being had …. and designs are currently underway for the redevelopment of the grounds of a beautiful Cotswold Manor, set in 20 acres of stunning parkland just outside Cirencester. There’s so much scope here - a brilliantly open and creative client; lots of nooks and crannies buzzing with character; worn and aged features, flagstones, moss, crunching gravel; a lovely walled kitchen garden asking for artichokes; meadows, formal lawns and to top it all (in my book…) a semi-circular ha-ha.

Brave steps have already been taken. Two huge and out of place trees have been removed - a massive conifer and an infamous ‘Widow Maker’ - planted eons ago and now far too dark and overpowering.  Their disappearance immediately opened up the most wonderful space, revealing some beautifully stem-my and architectural acers. You can almost sense them breathe a sigh of relief to finally have the room to grow and be seen.

The first stage of work will start next spring with the change of layout and planting to the pond garden - followed by the addition of a new courtyard garden.  I can’t wait to crack on….
